Application Requirements for Permanent Sign Permits

A building permit is required for all permanent
ground and wall signs. For application
requirements for a permanent sign permit, please see the lists below. For information about temporary signs,
please contact the By-law and Property Standards Section for requirements or
visit the web page.

WALL SIGN REQUIREMENTS
A complete submission includes:
▪ a completed building permit application
form Building Permit Application Form
▪ 2 complete sets of structural drawings which
must show:
» the elevation of the front face of the
building indicating the height and
width of the building
» the sign location on the building including
dimensions of both the building
face
and sign
» the construction of the sign box and method
of attachment
▪ 2 site plans
▪ application fee ($30.00/m˛)
GROUND SIGN REQUIREMENTS
A complete submission includes:
▪ a completed building permit application
form Building Permit Application Form
▪ 2 complete sets of structural drawings which
must show:
» the construction of the sign, the sign
structure and its supporting framework
including foundation and dimensions
» the materials to be used in the construction
and installation of the sign
» the message displayed or to be displayed on
the sign
» whether the sign will be illuminated and if
so, the means by which it is to
be
illuminated
▪ 2 site plans which must show:
» the dimensions of the lands upon which the
sign is to be located
» the location of any existing building or
structure on the lands upon which
the
sign is to be located
» the location of the sign
▪ application fee ($30.00/m˛)
